Damien sat across the table from Alexis, watching the steam rise from the cup of tea in her hands. Her blue eyes were emotionless, lacking that spark he had seen the first time they met.  He watched as the wind played with her silver hair and her long, wolf ears twitched at every sound that was made outside the hotel room.

Alexis, on the other hand, had her mind going at full speed. What the hell was he doing here? Not that she was complaining at all.

They had sat like this for a while now; the only movement was Alexis tacking quick sips from her mug. The air that settled around them was fragile; as if any sudden movement was made it would shatter like brittle glass. For a while, Damien had just taken this time to observe her, it was the first time he had been able to sit comfortable like this with someone. When he was with Robin, he could feel the tension in her muscles, ready to pounce at any given moment.

"What's your name?" Alexis whispered; her eyes trained on the cup, refusing to meet his gaze. "I mean, I've seen you before when you stopped that....." She was babbling now. She tried to think of the word, "-rapist from doing that before and you've been confusing me for ages and here you are now and I think that it's kind of weird an' all-"

"Damien," He replied, a small smile on his thin lips.

"W-w-what?" She stuttered, her train of thought crashed. She wasn't really listening to him to be honest but still. He chuckled at her response softly, trying not to hurt her feelings.

"My name is Damien," He repeated, slower now.

"Oh," Her cheeks began to turn red slowly, her eyes flitting from one object to another, despite the fact she had no trouble removing her sight from Damien's. "I'm Alexis," She outstretched her hand across the table for a handshake.

'I already knew that,' but Damien wasn't going to say that, it would sound extremely stalker-ish. Instead, he simply intertwined his hand with hers, shaking it gently. He appraised at how smooth her hands were but didn't voice that notion.

"It's lovely to finally meet you properly Alexis," His lips curved into a kind smile as he looked at her.

"Vice versa," She replied shyly, not used to the attention he was giving her. Her ears lay flat against her head in embarrassment from the look he was giving her.

*

Robin yawned unhappily, leaning against the arm of her Dad's wall.

"You were saying?" She asked him simply. A large ball of ice floated between the two distinct figures. The scene of Damien and Alexis meeting was played across the curved screen.

When Damien began to ogle Alexis for all he was worth she gagged due to the excessive use of sappiness and Damien's not-so-subtle-drooling at her cousin. This was pure torture, it was like she was being drowned in fluffy cotton-candy clouds and sparkly unicorns.

"Aren't you bothered in the slightest?" A bewildered voice came out. Robin narrowed her gaze over the scene playing in front of her. Oh how she wished he would turn it off now.

"Why should I be? Unless he hurts her, then all will be fine." She pronounced, pushing herself off of the cold marble. She glared at him again and walked off.

Silence faded over the crystal ball.

Robin's Dad sighed.

*

Alexis smiled at him softly, that joke was priceless.

"So true," She sighed dramatically, rolling her eyes at the sexist (but funny) comment. Damien looked at her and returned a gentle grin.

"Alexis? You home?" Ace's voice came out, followed by a soft pop in the air. Damien froze almost instantly at the sound of his voice whereas Alexis seemed to be on cloud nine.

"Yeah!" Padded footsteps came through the kitchen as Damien made his way to the window to get out. "Where are you going Damien?" Alexis asked.

A split second later, half a curse spilling out of Damien's mouth, Ace teleported into the kitchen, a look of fury on his face.

It didn't take long for a particular scenario to pan out. Ace expanded the boundary of unacceptable language, Alexis cried over Ace breaking her favourite mug (thus spilling the tea on the floor) and Damien left a broken window as a souvenir and took a bruised jaw home with him.

"Young love is so beautiful isn't it?" Robin's dad chuckled sarcastically, a sadistic smile on his lips.

"Kai, keep an eye on her will you?" He asked the silhouette beside him.  The boy snickered and raked a hand through his brown hair, his dull eyes flashing with amusement.

"I have a feeling that she's going to turn him into a toothpick." He slurred happily, "And I don't wanna miss it for the world."

*

Robin clenched her first angrily, the skin along her knuckles thinning dangerously. The timing was all wrong. This wasn't supposed to happen yet, not for another year or so. They weren't even prepared!

'There will be a time when you have to pick sides Evelyn. There will be a time when the impossible will seem possible. There will be a time when you will have to turn on your family or the ones you love the most. You must prepare yourself, no matter what the cost because when you make a choice, it will be your final choice. Do you understand me?'

'Yes mother,'

Robin pulled her lips together, the sequence was all wrong. But, then again, nothing came out the way it was supposed to.
